Bel Sit Winery

The story of the Bel Sit Winery is one of love and passion for wine and its terroir. Andrea and Giampiero Scavino have been producing wine since 1996, and the acquisition of the historic Bel Sit winery represents the fulfilment of their dream: to offer a product of the highest quality and organoleptic characteristics. The estate is nestled in a highly suitable wine-growing district that provides the ideal conditions for producing Piedmontese wines with a strong sense of identity. The estate is located in Castagnole delle Lanze, a charming village situated between the Langhe and Monferrato regions.

The vineyards, spread across the slopes of rolling hills, enjoy an optimal south-west facing aspect, allowing the vines to capture even the last rays of sunshine. The perfect ripening of the grapes yields full-bodied, structured and intense wines that find their fullest expression in Barbera d’Asti. Here, the Piedmontese grape variety finds ideal conditions for its phenological and vegetative development.

Tradition and innovation are the pillars on which the work of the Bel Sit winery is founded. The winemaking principles passed down from generation to generation are complemented by the use of machinery that allows us to make the most of the grapes harvested in this rich and generous terroir. Technology is essential for preserving the organoleptic characteristics of the freshly harvested grapes.

Bel Sit has always been at the forefront of experimentation and innovation, to the extent that it has succeeded in producing different versions of the same grape variety. The use of stainless steel tanks and wooden barrels, combined with meticulous ageing, forms the basis for producing Barbera-based wines with distinct characteristics.

This allows the winery to meet the diverse needs of its customers. One example is the Barbera d’Asti DOCG La Turna, a fresh, easy-drinking wine perfect for everyday dining. Meanwhile, one must wait a little longer to enjoy the Barbera d’Asti Superiore DOCG Cunsej. In this case, the grape variety’s qualities are enhanced by a nine-month ageing period in barriques.
However, Bel Sit’s range does not end there. A true oenological gem lies in an ancient plot of land where old vines are cultivated; in Piedmontese, these are called ‘Sichivej’, hence the name of the wine: Barbera d’Asti DOCG Sichivej.

To discover the world of wine at the Bel Sit Winery, you can take part in tastings and guided tours. The winery engages with the community and the local area of which it is an integral part through themed events that attract enthusiasts and professionals alike.
