Spring Herbs Festival
The Spring Herbs Festival is one of the most distinctive events of the spring season in the Friulian Dolomites, an occasion dedicated to discovering wild mountain herbs, their aromas and the flavours of local tradition. The event takes place in Forni di Sopra on the weekends of 13–14 June and 20–21 June 2026.
During the event, the village celebrates the ancient tradition of gathering alpine herbs, a knowledge passed down through generations that combines nature, cuisine and mountain culture. Wild herbs – such as dandelion, campion, nettle and many other varieties – take centre stage in guided walks, workshops and educational sessions, where experts and enthusiasts teach visitors how to identify and use them.
One of the most popular aspects of the festival is the culinary trail: restaurants and stalls offer typical Carnic dishes reinterpreted with seasonal herbs, providing a journey through the authentic flavours of the mountains. Through traditional recipes and new creations, visitors can discover how these wild plants enrich the local cuisine with unique and authentic flavours.
The Spring Herbs Festival is also an opportunity to experience the Dolomites’ natural beauty in a different way: walks through the woods, family activities, markets selling local produce and entertainment bring the village centre to life, creating a warm and authentic atmosphere.
Combining nature, gastronomy and tradition, this event invites you to rediscover the deep bond between people and the land, celebrating the gifts of spring in the heart of the Friulian mountains.
