Grape and Lambrusco Festival Grasparossa di Castelvetro
Every year, between the third and fourth weekend of September, Castelvetro di Modena celebrates its wine-growing identity with the Sagra dell’Uva e del Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro (Grape and Lambrusco Grasparossa Festival), one of the most eagerly awaited festivals in the Modena area.
From 19 to 27 September, the hilltop village comes alive with a rich programme of tastings, music, art, shows and educational events, involving the entire community: farmers, wineries, shops, associations and cultural organisations. It is an event that embraces the whole village, from the historic centre to the commercial areas, transforming it into a large stage dedicated to wine and tradition.
The heart of the event is the famous Lambrusco Grasparossa Tasting Trail, set up in the charming historic centre. Here, around 15 local wineries welcome visitors to characteristic wooden kiosks, offering tastings of Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro di Modena DOP, the region’s flagship product.
To participate, you can purchase the Grape Festival Kit, which includes a glass goblet with a strap, a tasting booklet and a map of the route: an ideal way to discover and compare the different interpretations of this wine, unique in colour, aroma and structure.
In addition to the tastings, there will be special openings of the wine cellars, food stands with local specialities and street food, markets and shopping along Via Sinistra Guerro, offering typical products, crafts and curiosities.
The Grape Festival promotes Castelvetro’s agricultural vocation, highlighting the history and quality of its flagship wine in a festive atmosphere with street bands, exhibitions and entertainment for young and old alike. An event that combines conviviality, culture and passion for the territory, celebrating Lambrusco Grasparossa as an authentic expression of the Modena spirit.
